Palm Sunday Breakfast

Concession Stand – Varsity Football vs. Cardinal Spellman – October 15, 2006

The volunteers for this game were greeted by the first cold & windy night of the season. One hundred cups of coffee and two hundred cups of hot chocolate were prepared for the cold and hungry crowd. The Fathers’ Club special was still the “Best Buy” at two hot dogs, a drink and chips for five dollars, but the hot drinks ruled the evening. We only had one minor panic when we ran out of cups and hot water just before the end of the halftime break but we recovered nicely. It will give us something to “practice” prior to our next game.

  The Go-To Guys

Concession Stand – Varsity Football vs. Cardinal Hayes – October 8, 2006

We continued our winning streak, as did our football team, at this early evening game. Again, 200+ hot dogs were sold as were lots of bottles of water and cane of soda. New to the Fathers’ Club line-up was the addition of hot drinks. While the night was not too cool, we still sold 2-100 cup coffee makes full of coffee & hot chocolate. This was also the first time we got to show off our new Fathers’ Club banners. Thanks again to the moms who helped us out. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Concession Stand – Varsity Football VS. Xaverian – September 23, 2006

The Fathers’ Club had a pretty good “opening day”, in running the concession stand at Coffey Field during the varsity football game against Xaverian, for the Prep’s Athletic Department. Over 200 hot dogs were sold in addition to cases of sodas, water, chips and cookies. A special thanks to everyone who helped out at this event. While the Dads who helped did a great job, we couldn’t have pulled it off without the help of several Moms. Thanks again to all.

Freshman Family Orientation - September 17, 2006

For the second time, early in the year, the Fathers’ Club teamed up with the Student Council to help feed the masses. This time the occasion was the Freshman Family Orientation. Hot dogs, hamburgers and pasta salad, along with cases of ice cold healthy beverages were served to the freshman and their families. Thanks to all who helped.

Blues in the bronx - September 15, 2006

Blues In The BronxThe 1st Annual Blues in the Bronx Father and Son Fishing Trip sailed from City Island on Friday September 15th aboard the Riptide 111. Just over 100 Prep students and their dads were aboard, on a cool, rainy and windy Friday evening, as the boat headed towards the waters near the Thogs Neck Bridge in search of Blues and Stripers. Shortly after the boat left the dock, the rain stopped and the skies cleared for the rest of the evening A new food consumption record was set, on the way out, as the Fordham Prep boys and their dads devoured 2-10 foot heros in less than ten minutes. Unfortunately the fish weren't as hungry, this night, as the boys. What the trip may have lacked in fish it made up for in spirit. Everyone had a great time. Blues in the Bronx official t-shirts were given to everyone at the end of the evening.

JV & Varsity Football BBQ - September 8, 2006

The Fathers' Club started the new school year by co-sponsoring a kick-off BBQ along with the Student Council on the first day of school. Hundreds of hot dogs and hamburgers were cooked and served by eager Fathers' Club volunteers prior to the JV and Varsity home openers against Mt St Michaels. Unfortunately the games didn't turn out quite so well. We'll get them next time
